Non-UK nationals who have lived in the UK legally for 10 continuous years (known as ‘long residence’) may qualify for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) in the UK on the basis of long residence. It’s also called ‘settlement’. Settled individuals can use it to apply for British citizenship.
